I was living in Pathankot at the time of this war so was witness to a lot of events. Pakistani Air Force destroyed a lot of Indian planes on the ground on the first day. Pakistan had a strong Armor Force of tanks with which they attacked. So India had to use Air Force to stop it . Ayub wanted to capture Jammu- Srinagar Highway. As everyone knows India was badly defeated by China in 1962 . So it was still recovering from that and building its military. So how could it even think of attacking Pakistan in 1965 .
